I hope you don’t mind I continue to comment - I think I am the only HIE parent following Benjamin’s journey? What a lucky little boy to be born to parents who are so very knowledgeable about HIE - it took me about 2 years to learn these protocols. One thing I wanted to add that I wish someone had told me: having a child with a degree of disability does not mean the treatment failed or that he is not fully recovered. The choices my husband and I made certainly helped our son’s prognosis, but I feel like we grieved again and again as new disabilities became apparent. We thought he would have zero deficits, and we still carry hope that he will continue to improve. Six years in we have pivoted and focus on all the things our son CAN do that are the result of the treatments we have pursued. It’s not so black and white: disabled or not disabled and that was a very hard lesson to heal from. My prayers continue. ❤️
So thankful to hear your Benjamin received this therapy. It’s standard of care for many hypoxic injuries in neonates. Your list of additional treatments will also serve him well in his recovery. God bless him and you and your wife. I remain in prayer.
I love hearing about the faith and hope you and Michelle have. Also a family of prayer warriors that supports your new family. Don’t forget to add PT and SP therapy (oral motor, swallowing and feeding therapy) to your list. It is recommended to get this outpatient therapy set up before you leave the hospital.
It's truly incredible how something so "free" like cold, light, heat, the Sun, and God are there for us when we need them. So glad to hear that you're having progress. Much love to you all from Bohdanna and myself.
Touch Research Institute at University of Miami has worked extensively on the benefit of neonatal massage for infants in NICU. I studied there. Something more to help Benjamin.

Would anyone have insight to share for someone I know struggling with severe PTSD from years of sexual abuse? Sometimes almost constant flashbacks, zoning in and out, little to no sleep and nightmares almost all the time if they do sleep, eating disorder, self harm and suicidal tendencies are the things they deal with. I've heard recently of Ibogaine, an African root that helps reset the brain but it is not legal in the states and is mostly associated with tribal religious rituals (also hallucinogenic) which I don't wish to direct someone to participate in. They have no money, so directing them to any treatment center is not very possible. Very musically talented person and they wish to achieve in life but have been failing trying to go to college. Just can't focus and concentrate. They did take the covid shot and need to detox no doubt. They are anorexic/bulemic at present. Any help and insight appreciated.
