The power of the name of Jesus
Merry Christmas!
Almost nine months ago, I met a pastor on a LifeWave trip named Danny McDaniel. We had a great conversation about our shared faith, and he gave me a copy of his book, Freedom.
I read it over the next several months. Danny included numerous stories from his life of miraculous healings he had witnessed as the result of prayer.
I have traveled all over the world looking for the best answers to modern medical problems. I have moved almost a dozen times inside the United States to pursue various work or training opportunities. Finally, I have now gotten around to beginning to appreciate the power of the name of Jesus to bring healing.
Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
-Luke 10:17
I have since then read a few other books on the topic, and continue reading widely, as it has made me more aware of the need for prayer than I was before.
Here are my two other favorite books on this topic:
Pigs in the Parlor, by Frank and Ida Mae Hammond
They Shall Expel Demons, by Derek Prince
Merry Christmas!
Until next time, be well,
Dr. Stillman

Alarmed and saddened that you are looking into Derek Prince and company. I am a Christian and love Christ Jesus and His Word. I am a firm believer that He is able to heal and that demons are subject to Him. However, I beg you to use caution and to measure everything you read by all of the Bible. It took our family years to break free of the deceptions of charismatism. We finally saw that human experience was being elevated above the complete and finished Word of God and that the Scriptures were being added to through “personal revelations” and “prophetic” words. Please consider that not everyone in the New Testament was healed. Paul, Timothy, and Trophimus (at least) are mentioned in this regard. Sometimes God chooses to heal, sometimes His grace is extended instead for His own purposes in our lives. Sometimes medicines and doctor’s care are used. Demon influence is a separate matter. People can be set free from demon possession and influence by the power and blood of Christ. May God guide you to sound teaching in these matters.
Dr.Stillman, I can rarely read beyond your titles, as your posts themselves are placed behind a paywall. But I comment this Christmas night, to express my amazement, growing from a thin suspicion in 2021, to a surety now, that I am witnessing, in the here and now, a new Great Awakening in America. I feel the Holy Spirit moving across this blessed land. Thank you for making clear that you, too, are in the company of believers. May the Lord bless your endeavors in this next year.
