The book came to my attention thanks to a tip from Dr. Robert Yoho (ret). Yoho writes a popular Substack and published an article recently about high-dose vitamin D. In it he alluded to a protocol I had never heard of - the Coimbra Protocol.
I have been in integrative medicine for twenty years, so when someone references a protocol I haven’t heard of, I always take an interest. I asked a senior colleague of mine, with a deep background (40+ years) if he had ever heard of it. He had not.
I became even more intrigued.
The Coimbra Protocol was developed in Brazil by a neurologist named Cicero Coimbra, based on the observation that patients with autoimmunity needed higher doses of vitamin D than most people to achieve optimal levels. He started to use higher and higher doses, with remarkable results.
I won’t spoil Ana’s story. I will just encourage you to join us for our first book club. Pick up a copy, read it, and come ready to learn. Amy and I will offer our summary of conclusions from the book and then answer questions.
