A case of too much thyroid hormone and too much blood pressure medicine
And remarkable results with our program
A retired tech entrepreneur came to us earlier this year with extreme variations in his blood pressure, fatigue, and weakness. He had become acutely ill last winter, with crippling vertigo and episodes of fainting. His blood pressure would vary from high to low within a matter of hours. He had lost much of his muscle mass due to his illness. Doctors had diagnosed him with hyperthyroidism and put him on massive doses of thyroid replacement. They had not identified the root cause of his problems, nor done anything to bring him lasting resolution of his symptoms.
When I saw him, we identified that 1) he was taking too much thyroid hormone and 2) he was probably taking too much blood pressure medication. We did this with a more comprehensive lab panel than he had received, and our blood pressure monitoring protocol.
He started nutritional supplements based on his labs, and a few months later, he is off of most of his blood pressure meds and a greatly reduced dose of thyroid hormone. He describes his energy level as, "100%" and the improvement in his strength as, "100%." He spent plenty of time coaching with Jim to optimize his strength training during this process.
He was already a well-educated patient. He got plenty of natural light, lived a low-EMF life, ate healthy, and spent plenty of time in nature.
He's out of the woods now, and now he's in one of our membership programs. Our goal is to optimize his nutritional status with quarterly lab testing and supplementation.
Once he's reached a state of balance, probably by early next year, he'll be in such good shape that I doubt he'll need to see me more than once a year.
That's my goal. To reduce the needs of my patients to little more than an annual visit. Of course, a lot of them are living such busy, hectic lives that they're going to need more support than that, but that's their choice.
I'm glad we've been able to help this gentleman. I created our memberships so that patients like him would stick with us for years and years to come. Because I believe the mark of a great practitioner is that their patients join their practice, and find the care so comforting, so reassuring, so efficient, and so effective, that they don't want or care to go anywhere else.
If you're looking for a practice where optimizing your health is the priority, book a discovery call with us today. If you're outside of New York or Florida, you will need to come see us in-person at least once a year. Fortunately, we live at the beach, so you can use this as an excuse to make the trip once a year.
Until next time, be well,
Dr. Stillman
